LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Lafayette fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked a barn fire last week north of the city that left five horses dead.

Alton Trahan, a spokesman for the Lafayette Fire Department, said units from Carencro, Scott and Lafayette answered a 2:14 p.m. Friday call. He says the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the site located between Carencro and Scott.

Trahan tells The Advertiser (https://bit.ly/1efcsiP ) he’s not sure who owns the site, adding that there were several barns on what appeared to be a private residence.

He says the barn was destroyed by the blaze.

No firefighters were injured.
