MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont winemakers are holding an open house this weekend offering samples of wine and chocolate to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Fifteen winemakers around the state will open their doors to visitors this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8 and 9, from noon to 5 p.m.
Many of the winemakers are working with local chocolatiers to offer pairings. Shelburne Vineyard, for example, is pairing its ice wine with Middlebury Chocolate’s habanero-laced dark chocolate. Snow Farm Vineyard in South Hero is pairing a whoopie pie with its “Rose Red” wine. The wine and chocolate samples are free.
Aside from wine made from grapes, some winemakers also make wine from fruit and honey.
