DEFIANCE, Ohio (AP) - A sheriff’s office in northwest Ohio says it is awaiting autopsies on four people who died in what is being investigated as a triple murder-suicide.
Authorities in Defiance County said Saturday that autopsies of 68-year-old Robert Garza Sr.; his wife, 61-year-old Christine Garza; his 42-year-old daughter, Zoila Garza; and his 15-year-old granddaughter, Rebecca Garza, were being conducted in Lucas County.
Their bodies were discovered Thursday in their home in Defiance, about 60 miles southwest of Toledo. Investigators found a handgun in the home that they believe the grandfather used to kill the others and then himself. No note was found.
A veterans service officer in the area said Robert Garza was a Vietnam veteran who was being treated for war-related disabilities and recently suffered a stroke.
