TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police say a man has died after two vehicles collided.

Sgt. Chris Widmer says firefighters responded to the scene near 6th Avenue and Illinois just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

Police say officers found bystanders pulling a male passenger from a vehicle engulfed in flames. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency workers declared the male driver of that car dead at the scene.

Police say the male driver of the other vehicle has been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. A male passenger in that car suffered only minor injuries.

Investigators say it appears the vehicle that caught fire was rear-ended when it turned southbound onto 6th Avenue.

They say speed, alcohol and possibly drugs appear to have been factors in the incident.
