GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A 24-year-old Greenville woman has been charged with attempting to smuggle contraband into the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.
Assistant Chief Deputy Percy Miles, who also is the interim warden, tells the Delta Democrat Times (https://bit.ly/1gQHllp ) that the incident occurred Saturday at the jail.
Miles says 24-year-old Patricia Collin went to the jail to visit a county inmate.
He says visitors are subjected to a standard search to ensure they aren’t bringing in contraband.
Miles says guards found tobacco and a “green leafy substance that could possibly be marijuana.” Miles says the substance is being tested.
Collins was charged with bringing contraband into a correctional facility and has been released on a $1,500 bond. No date has been announced for an initial court appearance.
