NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - A Newport News woman has been sentenced to nearly three years in federal prison for her role in a 2008 slaying that prosecutors say was part of gang activity.
Twenty-six-year-old Tayvonna Licorish was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Newport News to two years and nine months for misprision of a felony.
Prosecutors say Licorish admitted to a number of witnesses that she was present when her boyfriend, Aronte Jarvis, shot 22-year-old Jonte Terry multiple times at a Kmart parking lot in Newport News.
Jarvis was sentenced to life in prison in September for murder in aid of racketeering and other charges.
