NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) - Jalan West scored 30 points Thursday night, including 5 of 8 from distance, as Northwestern State beat McNeese State 85-74 for its fifth straight win.
DeQuan Hicks scored 19 and grabbed 13 rebounds, Brison White scored 13, and Northwestern State (10-11, 6-4 Southland) outshot McNeese State (7-15, 5-5) 45.8 percent to 40.3 percent.
The Cowboys led 11-10 lead on a layup by Craig McFerrin and pulled away by five. West’s 3-pointer put Northwestern State up 37-34, but Adrian Fields replied with a trey to tie it at 37 at halftime.
The lead flip-flopped in the second half until White’s 3-pointer put Northwestern State up 51-49 and the Demons built a five-point lead. Shaun Johnson made it a two-point game with a 3-pointer at 6:47, but the Demons pulled away on runs of 6-0 and 10-3.
Ledrick Eackles led McNeese State with 23, including 4 of 8 on 3-pointers. McFerrin scored 17.
