SALEM, Mass. (AP) - A New Jersey man charged with randomly attacking other students at the Massachusetts college he attended has been held without bail.
Dillon DeStefano was held pending a hearing to determine whether he is a danger to society after pleading not guilty Thursday to two counts of aggravated assault and battery.
Authorities say the 19-year-old DeStefano, of Riverdale, N.J., punched two fellow Endicott College students between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Sunday. One suffered a broken jaw and another had a shattered eye socket.
A third student was attacked but no charges have been filed.
Authorities tell The Salem News (https://bit.ly/1catqPt ) the unprovoked attacks may have been an example of the “knockout game,” in which people randomly punch strangers.
DeStefano’s lawyer had no comment, saying he is still preparing his case.
