KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Kansas City man was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the death of a man who was stabbed 40 times.
Thirty-five-year-old David Saulmon was sentenced Thursday for the February 2011 death of 19-year-old Brent Humphreys in north Kansas City.
Saulmon pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action in November.
The Kansas City Star reports (https://bit.ly/1exxGi3 ) Saulmon and Humphreys were staying one of Saulmon’s relative and her husband.
The couple told police Saulmon walked into their bedroom one night covered with blood and said he had “saved the family” before fleeing.
The couple found Humphreys in another room.
Saulmon was arrested several hours later in Kirksville.
