WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - A Florida man has been arraigned on murder and conspiracy charges in the killing of a Rhode Island man who was ambushed, stomped and run over by a car in January 2012.

Thirty-year-old Carlos Manuel Reyes-Sanchez appeared Thursday in Warwick District Court. He was arrested Jan. 29 in Sarasota, Fla., where he worked as a personal trainer, and returned to Rhode Island this week.

Reyes-Sanchez didn’t enter a plea and is detained without bail.

Forty-nine-year-old Victor Baez was attacked outside his home in Cranston and died from his injuries four months later.

Police say Baez was ambushed by Reyes-Sanchez and two other men after getting into a fight at a Providence house party earlier that night. Authorities say a second suspect is detained on unrelated charges in Massachusetts.
