FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - A father and son from Acushnet have been convicted of beating a man so severely that he still requires round the clock care nearly three years after the attack.
The Taunton Daily Gazette (https://bit.ly/Ne5cOX ) reports that 55-year-old Christopher Adams and 28-year-old Jacob Adams were convicted Thursday of charges including assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The jury did not find them guilty of the more serious charge of assault and battery resulting in serious bodily injury, which carries a longer prison term than the 10-year maximum they face. Sentencing is Feb. 26.
Prosecutors say father and son beat 27-year-old Gary Medeiros in May 2011. Medeiros had dated Christopher Adams’ daughter and had stolen $1,900 from the family home.
Medeiros is still unable to walk or talk.
