SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (AP) - A May 1 sentencing is set for a Maryland woman convicted of second-degree murder in the slaying of her boyfriend at a campground in Virginia.
The Free Lance-Star (https://bit.ly/1dsLwvG ) reports that 78-year-old Lillian Mae Levy of Mechanicsville, Md., entered Alford pleas on Wednesday in Spotsylvania County Circuit Court to the murder charge and to a firearms charge.
An Alford plea is one in which a defendant acknowledges there was sufficient evidence for conviction but does not admit guilt.
Levy was accused of shooting 62-year-old James Thomas of Essex County on April 27, 2013 at Wilderness Presidential Resorts in Spotsylvania County. Thomas died 12 days later.
