WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Authorities say an 18-year-old New Castle man assaulted a bailiff and correctional officer during an arrest at the New Castle County Courthouse.
State Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Kimberly Chandler says the assault occurred Tuesday when a Superior Court bailiff tried to take Vincente Maniscalco into custody. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Maniscalco is accused of hitting and injuring the bailiff and Chandler says a correctional officer, who helped the bailiff, sustained a hand injury during the arrest. He was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
Maniscalco is being held at Young Correctional Institution on $62,000 cash bail.
