STATESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - County commissioners have agreed to buy MacBook Air laptop computers for all students in grades 6 through 12 in the Iredell-Statesville Schools.

The commission will spend nearly $11 million to buy about 12,300 of the machines.

The plan calls for laptops to be given to several schools late this spring, with students in most of the 16 schools receiving them this summer and at the beginning of the next school year.
