PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A blast of winter weather with cold, wind and snow is forecast for the Portland-Vancouver area.

The National Weather Service says high temperatures through Friday will barely get above freezing and lows will be in the teens.

There’s a high-wind warning until Thursday night for the western Columbia River Gorge with 40-to-50 mph winds and gusts to 75, which could damage property. There’s a wind advisory in the metro area for 20-to-35 mph winds and gusts of 40 mph or more.

Forecasters expect snow from Friday afternoon to Saturday night, and freezing rain and sleet also are possible.
