MILWAUKEE (AP) - A Wisconsin anti-abortion group is joining in a boycott of Girl Scout cookie sales.
Pro-Life Wisconsin sent an email Monday to 3,000 supporters asking them to think twice before buying cookies when sales start Saturday.
Anti-abortion groups nationwide are encouraging a cookie boycott after taking issue with a Girl Scouts tweet that linked to an article recognizing Democratic Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis.
Davis shot to political stardom last year with a filibuster of abortion limits in Texas.
Pro-Life Wisconsin state director Peggy Hamill says she is a former Girl Scout but now sees the group as supporting “pro-abortion advocacy.”
Girl Scouts of the USA spokeswoman Kelly Parisi says the tweet was aimed at sparking a discussion on women’s leadership and was not an endorsement of any politician.
