LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has announced a new online program for certified teachers who want to help other teachers improve their performance.

The university says in a news release that the 12-hour, non-degree program will begin March 10. The deadline to apply is Feb. 10.

The program offers a graduate certificate in “Instructional Coaching.”

Dr. Luke Dowden, director of Distance Learning at Louisiana-Lafayette, says the program is designed to give certified teachers the knowledge and skills to mentor other teachers.

Dowden says Louisiana-Lafayette is the first school in the state to offer such a program online.
