PHOENIX (AP) - Bond is set at $50,000 for a woman accused in the fatal shooting of her live-in boyfriend at a Phoenix apartment complex.

Ashley Elizabeth Eide was arrested Sunday on suspicion of manslaughter.

The 24-year-old Eide had her initial court appearance Monday and doesn’t have an attorney yet.

Phoenix police responded to a call of shots fired around 4 a.m. Saturday and found 26-year-old Fernando Ruelas dead on a stairwell landing.

Police say Eide told investigators that she and Ruelas argued and he hit her several times.

She told police that she feared for her life but didn’t mean to shoot him.

Police say Eide had injuries to her face when officers arrived at the apartment complex.

Eide’s 5-year-old child was home at the time of the incident but wasn’t injured.
