INDIANA, Pa. (AP) - A man has been jailed on charges he wounded an Indiana University of Pennsylvania student in the leg in a possible road rage incident.

State police say 29-year-old Eagan Minich, of Indiana, Pa. has surrendered to face attempted homicide and other charges.

Investigators say Minich somehow became angry when the victim got out of a vehicle to secure a rear hatch that wasn’t closed properly while that vehicle was stopped in front of Minich’s at a red light about 2 a.m. Thursday.

Police believe Minich misinterpreted the actions of the victim, 20-year-old student Hayden Warmke, or otherwise became enraged followed the vehicle Warmke was in to an off-campus parking lot. That’s where Warmke was shot in a confrontation.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Minich, who faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 13.
