SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California woman has given birth to a baby girl at a gas station.

Patricia Garcia tells KCAL-TV she was heading to the hospital Saturday with her mother and three children, but her baby was coming so quickly the family had to pull over at a station in Simi Valley.

A police officer who was first to respond to the scene helped Garcia deliver the baby and helped unwrap the umbilical cord around her neck.

A high school student who was on a ride-along with the officer was also there for the dramatic birth.

Garcia said she still can’t believe her daughter’s gift certificate says she was born at a gas station.
