ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) - Aggravated assault charges have been filed against the mother of a toddler who was found dead in their northern New Jersey apartment.

Union County prosecutors say 30-year-old Raquel Ramirez could face further charges in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Dayanna Orozco. The child was found around 8 p.m. Sunday, when authorities responded to a 911 call at the family’s home in Elizabeth.

An autopsy conducted Monday determined that the death was a homicide, but further details were not disclosed.

Ramirez’s bail was set at $50,000 dollars. A telephone number for her could not be located Monday night, and it was not known if she has retained an attorney.
