OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Legislature has convened the 2014 legislative session.
The state House and Senate convened at noon Monday, and Gov. Mary Fallin is expected to outline her goals for the session in her State of the State address in the House chamber.
Lawmakers will have about $6.96 billion in revenue to appropriate to state agencies and programs this year. That’s about $170 million less than they appropriated last year.
In spite of the revenue shortfall, Fallin has said she will outline plans for an income tax cut during her State of the State speech. An agreement reached last year to cut the rate from 5.25 percent to 5 percent was thrown out by Oklahoma Supreme Court.
Lawmakers must adjourn by May 30.
