BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) - Thousands of people, including fellow law enforcement officers, turned out Monday to honor a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy who was killed in a motorcycle crash.
During the service at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Sgt. David Baldwin’s pastor recalled how he cared for his first wife, Stephanie, during her two-year battle with cancer. His second wife, Crystal, shared his love of motorcycles.
Baldwin was killed when the driver of an SUV was trying to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone on Highway 93 on Jan. 26 and hit Baldwin’s motorcycle.
The 27-year veteran of the department was on duty and wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.
