PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey man was shot in the hand as he fled from two would-be armed robbers.
Paterson police say the 30-year-old victim was headed home around 11 p.m. Saturday when someone approached him from behind him and held a hard object against his head. The second robber then pointed a handgun at the victim.
As the pair rummaged through the victim’s pockets, he pushed one robber aside and ran off. One robber then fired a shot that hit the victim in the hand, but he was able to escape.
The wound was not believed to be life-threatening, but further details on the victim’s condition were not disclosed.
