WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a man is holding a family member hostage in a hotel room in Winston-Salem.

Police have evacuated The Travelers Inn and a few surrounding businesses north of town as they try to negotiate with the suspect.

Investigators say the man was wanted for assault charges and other crimes from the town of King and in Virginia. Police were trying to serve the warrants around 11 a.m. Monday when he took the family member hostage.



The name of the suspect has not been released and authorities didn’t give details on the hostage’s exact relationship to the suspect. Police say no one has been hurt.
