FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - Two men have died and a third suffered serious injuries after police say a driver tried to flee a potential DWI arrest.
Fairfax County Police say an officer tried to stop the driver of a 1999 Dodge Neon on Hilltop Road in the Merrifield area around 1:50 a.m. Monday when the driver attempted to flee.
Police say the car ran off the road and hit a tree.
The driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The third was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Police did not identify the three men. They say alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
