MILTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont police and firefighters say a home was destroyed but all residents escaped safely from a house fire in Milton.
Milton police and fire were called to the home around 7 p.m. Thursday and discovered an attached garage on fire. Police say all occupants were safely removed from the home without injury.
Other fire volunteers from Georgia, Vt., Colchester and South Hero, Milton Rescue and the American Red Cross also assisted at the scene. The Red Cross says they will be assisting the six displaced residents with temporary lodging and money for food and lost clothing.
Police say the house is expected to be “a total loss” but some property from residence was salvaged. According to police, the fire remains under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious.
