ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis County superintendent facing an uncertain future with his school district says he is a candidate for president at one of Missouri’s two historically black colleges.

Art McCoy remains on paid administrative leave with the Ferguson-Florissant School District. The district’s elected school board has not publicly disclosed the reasons behind its decision.

KWMU-FM (bit.ly/NbLIdD ) reports that McCoy is a candidate to lead Harris-Stowe State University in the city of St. Louis. McCoy confirmed his candidacy to the public radio station. McCoy said he was asked by several people to consider the job.

He had previously been nominated to serve on the school’s Board of Regents, but his name was never confirmed by the Missouri Senate. A school spokeswoman says he is no longer a board member.
