ST. LOUIS (AP) - The arrival of March brings increased likelihood of severe weather, and Missouri officials are seeking to raise awareness.
Missouri Severe Weather Awareness Week starts Monday. Officials with the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency say the goal is to help residents prepare for how they would react in case of tornadoes, flash flooding and other weather-related issues.
The annual statewide tornado drill will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. If severe weather is forecast for Tuesday, the drill will be moved to Thursday to avoid confusion.
Gov. Jay Nixon says in a statement that tornadoes, flash flooding and other severe weather can develop quickly, with little warning.
