ELGIN, S.C. (AP) - The Kershaw County coroner said an 18-year-old woman whose body was found in some woods near Elgin earlier this week had been strangled.

The State newspaper reported (https://bit.ly/1hp0Y1R ) that Sheriff Jim Matthews said a male who was with Briana Nicole Rabon on Tuesday evening is not considered a person of interest in her death.

Services for Rabon will be held Sunday at Sawney’s Creek Baptist church in Ridgeway.

Some children playing on a dirt road near Elgin found the girl’s body Wednesday afternoon. Officials say they are not sure where she was killed.

The sheriff said a missing persons report was filed on the teen as investigators were at the location where her body was found. The teen’s car was found at a restaurant at US 601 and Interstate 20.
