CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. (AP) - A southern New Jersey woman has pleaded guilty to carjacking that she said was an attempt to get the teen driver to take her to and give her the baby to whom she had given birth.
Forty-five-year-old Floribert Nava of Wildwood faces 12 years in state prison with a plea deal she struck Thursday.
The Press of Atlantic City (https://bit.ly/1fYrkDH ) reports the teen’s baby was adopted by a family.
Nava used a fake gun on March 22, 2013 and forced the teen to drive her from Wildwood to Philadelphia.
The victim crashed into a police car on the Ben Franklin Bridge to get the officer’s attention.
That’s when Nava was arrested.
As a native of Mexico who is not a U.S. citizen, Nava could face deportation.
