JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Thousands of anglers are expected to show up at parks around the state as Missouri’s trout fishing season gets underway Saturday.
Gov. Jay Nixon plans to open the trout season at 6:30 a.m. at Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon in south-central Missouri. Anglers also will be going for trout at the James Foundation’s Meramec Spring and at Roaring River and Montauk state parks.
More than 30,000 trout are stocked for opening day with most about a foot-long.
