ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A 24-year-old Anchorage man suspected of pummeling a hotel security guard has been charged with felony assault.

Hunter Hedrick is being held without bail at the Anchorage Jail.

A woman called police Thursday night and reported her boyfriend, Hedrick, had assaulted her at her home and left on foot. A felony warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shortly after midnight, Hedrick tried to get a room at Springhill Suites Hotel and started yelling obscenities.

The security guard, 55-year-old Jeffrey Palm, asked Hedrick to calm down. Police say Hedrick knocked Palm to the ground with punch to the face and continued punching him while he was down.

A second employee, 42-year-old William Grafton, intervened and suffered a broken arm.

Palm suffered face fractures and remained in a hospital Friday afternoon.
