RYE, N.Y. (AP) - New York state police say a life was lost in a crash that tied up the New England Thruway for hours between Westchester County and Connecticut.

The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. Friday in Rye near the entrance ramp from I-287 to northbound I-95.

The ensuing traffic jam continued into the morning rush-hour.

Police say a car struck a parked State Thruway pickup truck. The truck rolled and the car hit a concrete barrier.

The person who died was riding in the front seat of the car. A back-seat passenger suffered serious injuries.

Both drivers had non-life-threatening injuries.
