JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - A fire has destroyed a Jersey City mosque.

Fire Department Spokesman Bob McHugh says the blaze was brought under control shortly after 7:30 a.m. Friday.

McHugh says the fire at the Al-Tawheed Islamic Center was fully involved when firefighters responded to a first alarm at 5:36 a.m. on Friday.

No one was injured in the blaze, which reached three-alarms. The structure was destroyed.

Mosque members were relocated for daily prayers to the Jersey City Armory.

McHugh says the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters were working in extreme cold conditions which caused water to freeze, McHugh said.
