CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia will hold a diversity celebration as part of Black History Month.
The celebration will be held Friday in the state Culture Center in Charleston. It will be held in conjunction with the Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs, the Martin Luther King Jr. State Holiday Commission and the state Division of Culture and History.
The program will include a musical performance and a presentation by the Rev. Frances M. Shearin of Charleston’s Metropolitan Baptist Church. She was part of the March on Washington that included King’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech in August 1963.
