BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Developer Mike Wampold has acquired the old State Office Building in downtown Baton Rouge and plans to spend the next 90 days determining what would be the best use for the art deco building.

Wampold told The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1pEghr8 ) he bought the entity that the Baton Rouge Area Foundation set up to buy the building in a deal that closed Thursday. BRAF acquired the building at auction from the state for $10.25 million in a deal that was finalized earlier this week.

The plan is to put the property under the Milford Wampold Foundation, which is under the umbrella of BRAF.

A market study will be conducted over the next 90 days. Wampold said possible uses for the building could be an apartment, hotel or office space.
