FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - Fairbanks police say a shooting that injured two men at an apartment was likely a robbery attempt involving illegal drugs.

Police say two armed men at about 2 a.m. Tuesday entered an apartment with five people inside at Wedgewood Resort off College Road.

Detective Peyton Merideth tells the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (https://bit.ly/1kcRwS3) that at least 10 shots were fired and some entered neighboring apartments.

The two intruders retreated but police found them within minutes.

Police have released no names of the injured or where they were when the shooting began. Both men were critically injured but stable as of Wednesday. One is 30 and the other 21.

Merideth said it’s no secret that the case involves drugs but police are not specifying which ones because it could jeopardize their investigation.
