MONROE, Mich. (AP) - A suburban Detroit nun who offered inspiration through her openness and actions after being diagnosed with breast cancer has died.

St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores says Sister Carol Juhasz died Wednesday at the Monroe motherhouse of her religious order, Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She was 62.

Msgr. Mike Bugarin, pastor of St. Joan of Arc, says Juhasz “taught us how to live and, in a beautiful way, she taught us how to die.”

The Detroit News reports Juhasz was told last March that she had six months to live. She went public, writing a blog and encouraging people to ask about her impending death.

Funeral services are Monday in Monroe and Tuesday at St. Joan of Arc.
