ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Maryland Senate has passed a measure allowing wagering on games of chance at home.

The measure was approved on a 46-0 vote Friday.

A similar bill has been introduced in the House of Delegates. A similar bill received a hearing in the House Ways and Means Committee last year, but no further action was taken.

The Senate bill does not allow a player’s use of an electronic device that connects to the Internet.

It also does not allow a person to benefit financially in any way, directly or indirectly, other than from winnings accrued by participating as a player in the game.
