FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says three people, including a 9-year-old boy, died when two cars collided at a rural Fresno County intersection.
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the driver of a Pontiac Grand Am allegedly ran a stop sign west of Fresno, hitting a Chevrolet Tahoe carrying five passengers.
The boy, who was one of the passengers, and the driver of the Pontiac died at the scene. A third person, also in the Chevrolet, later died at an area hospital. Other crash victims were hospitalized, though their conditions were not immediately known.
CHP Sgt. Joseph Bianchi told the Fresno Bee (https://bit.ly/1ccEphk) the rainy weather did not appear to play a role in the crash.
