RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A Richmond apartment’s thin walls allowed a fugitive to run, but he couldn’t hide from federal marshals.

Federal authorities say 33-year-old Shawn Rives of Petersburg was apprehended Tuesday, more than three months after he allegedly failed to appear in court for arraignment on cocaine distribution charges.

According to an affidavit filed in the case, the U.S. Marshal Service and the FBI found Rives at a Richmond apartment complex Tuesday morning. As marshals entered the apartment, Rives kicked through the drywall of a closet and squeezed through the wall and into a 5-year-old girl’s bedroom in the next door apartment where he unsuccessfully tried to hide.
