HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Low temperatures are expected to plunge to around 20 degrees below normal across much of Alabama as an arctic blast of air drops south.

The National Weather Service said temperatures in northern areas of the state, including the Florence and Huntsville areas, will fall to around 18 degrees by early Thursday. That’s about 20 degrees below normal for this time of year.

In the Birmingham area, lows early Thursday are expected to be around 20 degrees.



Lows early Thursday are expected to drop to around 26 degrees in the Montgomery area; and to around 30 in the Mobile area.
