NEW YORK (AP) - A former New York City teacher who had been accused of making comments about bringing a gun to school has filed a $6 million lawsuit against the NYPD.
Sabrina Milo was arrested in 2011 but a grand jury refused to indict her. She had worked at Brooklyn’s Fort Hamilton High School where she received an award for classroom excellence in 2007.
Prosecutors had alleged she made remarks about Columbine, the 1999 high school shooting in Colorado.
Her suit says her remarks were not literal or serious.
Her suit names the NYPD and the arresting officer.
Her lawyer told the New York Post (https://bit.ly/1o5yHNW ) Milo was forced to give up her teaching license after the arrest and remains unemployed.
The paper says the NYPD didn’t immediately return a call for comment.
