PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say a man found dead in an Interstate 85 travel lane had been hit by several vehicles.

State police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar says troopers found the man Tuesday night after receiving reports of a man lying in the southbound travel lane in Petersburg.

The body will be sent to the medical examiner’s office in Richmond to determine the cause of death.



The man hasn’t been identified.

The southbound lanes were closed for several hours while police investigated the scene.
