PHOENIX (AP) - A man is in custody in connection with a Phoenix shed fire that severely burned two people and killed a dog.

Maricopa County court documents show 22-year-old Daykota Rayne Varner is being held on a $50,000 bond on suspicion of arson and endangerment.

Phoenix police say Varner allegedly entered the backyard of a home last week and intentionally set fire to debris around the shed.

Authorities say a man and woman in their 50s were sleeping inside the shed with their dog when the fire started.

They say the couple suffered major burns all over their bodies and the dog died in the fire.

The names of the man and woman haven’t been released.

Investigators say Varner allegedly was mad at the man for unknown reasons.
