TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A man originally accused of first-degree murder in a 2012 shooting in Tucson has been sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison on lesser charges.
The Arizona Daily Star reports (https://bit.ly/1hA0eoM) that Alejandro Talamantes was sentenced Wednesday for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited possessor.
Following his prison sentence, Talamantes will be deported to Mexico.
Talamantes was charged in the June 2012 death of Raymond Bracamonte, who was shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex after an altercation.
He also was facing charges of aggravated assault, possession of marijuana for sale, importation of a dangerous drug and multiple counts of possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited possessor.
Prosecutors later dropped the murder and aggravated assault charges and Talamantes pleaded guilty to two weapons charges.
