CENTREVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A southwestern Illinois man was sentenced to 33 years in prison for a 2012 shooting death.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1pswjEx ) Deangelo Wiley was sentenced after being convicted of first-degree murder.

The 21-year-old was accused of shooting Vonzell Taylor in the stomach in October 2012. Authorities said at the time that the 29-year-old was shot twice while trying to wrestle away the gun during a struggle.



A co-defendant in the case was sentenced to 20 years in prison in December after being convicted of aggravated battery with a firearm.
