LOCKPORT, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago man is facing several misdemeanors after authorities say he took his tiger cub on a walk through downtown Lockport.

The Joliet Herald-News reports (https://bit.ly/1mAHkBp ) John Basile is facing charges for reckless conduct, disorderly conduct and possession of a dangerous animal after he was spotted with the Siberian tiger cub named Kahn.

The 57-year-old runs Big Run Wolf Ranch, an educational facility that cares for wolves, a bear, and other large animals. The newspaper reported he has an animal exhibitor’s license.

Lockport Police Chief Terry Lemming tells the newspaper that officers asked Basile to put the cub in a cage after the pair was spotted downtown earlier this month.

The Associated Press left messages with the ranch seeking comment.

Lockport is about 30 miles southwest of Chicago.
