CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The former chancellor of the University System of New Hampshire has been appointed to lead the state Department of Education’s division of higher education.

The department Edward MacKay’s appointment as division director on Wednesday, saying he is known for his collaborative work and deep commitment to schools.

MacKay retired last year after three years as chancellor and 36 years at the university system. He says he looks forward to working with all sectors of postsecondary education to meet the state’s challenges.
